Tunaville Surf, Turf, Sushi, Beer, Wine, and Socializing

Meet Chef Tommy Gomes, star of The Fishmonger, a thrilling outdoor cooking show that focuses on the art of seafood and marine life. It is beginning its second season streaming on the MyOutdoor TV website and is available on demand at Amazon Prime. Tommy will feature his hand-crafted “Seacuterie” accompanied by fabulous creations from Master Sushi Chefs Jeff Roberto and David Yee of Sushi On A Roll, Chef Ricardo Santana of California’s Best Catering Co, Chef David Chenelle of the Marine Corps Air Station, and dessert masters Chef Paul De Puyt, Chef Debra Childers, and Chef Mary Trimmins.

Thanks to J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines for providing premium Flume Crossing Sauvignon Blanc, J. Lohr Wildflower Valdiguié, and Riverstone Chardonnay, all curated by award-winning California Wine Judge Brad Bruce.

And much appreciation to the Tony Gwynn Legacy Foundation and AleSmith Brewing Company for providing their .394 Pale Ale that honors Padre Allstar Tony Gwynn and his career-high .394 batting average, which is the second highest in major league baseball history.

This fundraiser supports the “Cooking With Chefs” series that gives healthy recipes, recipe ingredients, and cooking, food safety, and nutrition classes to youngsters in underserved San Diego neighborhoods.

Chefs de Cuisine 2019 Chef of the Year Award Gala

The evening featured a nuevo classic New Orleans reception and an amazing four-course Mardi Gras feast, complete with beads, masks, King Cakes, a First Line Parade and hurricane cocktails!

Guests enjoyed fantastic silent auction items including having a top San Diego chef prepare a four-course meal in the home of the highest bidder.  

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of Chef of the Year, Student of the Year, Educator of the Year and many more!

Limited Engagement: La Jolla Pinot Wars

This stately La Jolla private home hosted "Pinot Wars" where the best pinot noirs from California and Oregon faced off to determine bragging rights. There was no clear winner, but guests of the Education Foundation spent several blissful hours with some of the best wines made on the West Coast and the artful food pairings of Chef Trez Gotfredson of Wine Time Catering.

Master Paella Chef Leerosendo West and owner and vintner Keith Rolle welcomed Foundation guests to an exceptional wine and food pairing at Gianni Bounomo Vintners in Ocean Beach.

There were tantalizing tapas, captivating paellas and a magnificent dessert course accompanied by selected vintages of Gianni Bounomo’s national and international award-winning wines.
