Jeff Roberto

Jeff Roberto is a master sushi chef and the owner of Sushi On a Roll and Kyoto Japanese Market. He was a local culinary legend long before the current popularity of sushi in San Diego.  

For 27 years, he provided masterful culinary experiences to hotels and endless corporate clients and private individuals throughout Southern California and beyond.  

He has shared his trademark style and helped to train an entire generation of outstanding sushi chefs. He is creating a sensation at Jumbo’s Markets across the region while his acquisition of the 30-year-old Kyoto Japanese Market has taken him full circle to his native National City in South San Diego County.  

Whenever the Foundation needs his help, he consistently volunteers his time, energy, and resources to the charitable causes that are part of the Foundation's mission. He is a former Chefs de Cuisine Chef of the Year and was awarded the 2019 Education Foundation President’s Award for Excellence.
